Selling Your Art on ArtFinder

Just recently I discovered a great art site that is very pro-active for selling original artworks. The site is called ArtFinder and they have been around for quite some time. Not only can you continually add more works of art, but each artist has their own page.

As soon as anyone follows your work, you get a notification and that follower gets to see each and every time you add a new piece of art. This is fantastic news to artists all over the world. Even though ArtFinder is located in the UK, and most of the artists appear to be from the UK also, many US artists are starting to find their way to the site.

I’m very pleased to have been accepted to ArtFinder … be sure to check it out!

Abstract Geometric Art

This new painting represents community, titled The Neighborhood, as it reflects people living in proximity with some interacting and others living a solitary life. It was painted in my little studio in Cashtown, PA, just outside of the Gettysburg area.

It’s a fun, colorful piece painted with acrylic, wax crayons, prismacolor pencil. This abstract geometric painting is on bristol board.

For the past month my emphasis has changed, while I experiment with some old and new mediums. My studio is now filled with this new body of work that I am calling “Chalk it to Me”. While it is not actually chalk I am using, the end result has the appearance of a chalkboard and chalk, with lots of color mixed in.

At first I was only using a black background but now I am using some vibrant colors, using this same technique and I love the results. I have been trying to find my own “voice” so to speak and I think I have found it!!

Fun New Paintings

I’ve been having a lot of fun with some of my newest paintings. My mind is whirling with new images to paint. These two recent paintings, both acrylics on paper, were so much fun and the colors attest to it.

The top painting is titled Options. It’s acrylic on paper, 19×24. It reflects how sometimes our options in life are conflicting.

The second painting, titled Summertime, is reminiscent of the fun days of summer. It’s also acrylic on paper, 19×24.

Livin the Life

This new abstract painting titled Livin the Life signifies the fun and excitement one can experience if they are open to new adventures on the path of life. Painted with acrylics on 19×24″ paper.

I love the colors and movement in this new painting. Since I have been away from my studio for the past week helping my eldest son pack up his house for a move, I have missed not being in the studio. There is a part of me that needs to create on a daily basis, so I haven’t been getting my creative fix lately.

Today, I sent in a preliminary application to the Harpo Foundation, in hopes of getting some grant money this year. Hopefully, I will be able to keep painting on a continuous basis, so that I can get into some good gallery exhibitions.

My plans for an exciting new body of work are taking shape, exciting new abstracts, so sometime in the near future I will share the plan with you.

It’s quite amazing how many different styles of abstract paintings are created each and every day. But when you think about the mindset of the artist, perhaps it’s not so amazing after all. I do find that mood and weather … sunny day, gloomy day … all play a part in what you, as an artist, end up painting.

for, example, this painting on paper, which I titled HopScotch, was off the board different when I painted it … from what I was currently painting. I’m not sure I can really explain it, but sometimes your hand just takes over.
